A lot of folks believe that the Democrats are the party of green and the party of hope for our environment, Global Warming and all the past good that has been done for clean air and water in the United States. But the truth is that is not exactly how it happened.
In fact the current Bush Administration has put forth a lot of initiatives and set aside funding for Alternative Energies, Clean Coal, Global Warming Research and Alternative Fuels just to name a couple of. There are simply too a lot of to list here in this small article, but you are able to read about all the rest on the Presidential Website.
Now then with regards to the Federal Clean Water Act, that was really something that happened during the Nixon Administration and for Democrats to take credit for it's truly absurd. The Federal Clean Water Act provides only clear water to flow into storm drains (search NPDES permit rules), streams, rivers, ocean. however with such a definition you cannot wash your car in your driveway, two reasons;
1.) Water from the tap has been filters by municipalities, added chlorine, fluoride and such.
2.) Soapy suds go into the storm drain. surely a little soap breaks down things like oil drips from cars, pesticides and diminishes the half-lives, breaks down compounds.
This is some of the most stringent environmental legislation in the history of mankind and human civilization. The Federal Clean Water Act was no more a liberal endeavor as a conservative one, in fact Nixon Administration is to thank.
The Democrats cannot take credit for that in the least, although they have done a complete snow job on the American folks, as people in reality believe that the Democrats are the party of the environment? Since when can a Political Party hijack the environmental issue, we all must breath the air and drink the water.
This environmental issue is and ought to remain non-partisan. I certainly hope this article is of interest and that is has propelled thought. The goal is simple; to help you in your quest to be the best in 2007. I thank you for reading my a lot of articles on diverse subjects, which interest you.
